Trent Alexander-Arnold's Situation is Clear - It's Benefiting Liverpool Player

Sunday served as further evidence that criticisms of Trent Alexander-Arnold's defensive abilities are unfounded. He faced significant challenges against Chelsea, whose investment in a series of talented wingers has made their attack formidable.

Trent held his own against Jadon Sancho in the first half, and his replacement, Pedro Neto, is known for his speed and ability to surpass any Premier League full-back. Yet, when Trent was beaten on one occasion, critics were quick to highlight it, overshadowing his numerous strong defensive moments throughout the match. Both Trent and Andy Robertson contributed offensively at times, but they did not push forward as aggressively as they typically would under Jürgen Klopp. Defensively, however, both were excellent, along with Joe Gomez in the later stages of the game.

While Trent may not be able to attack as much as he would prefer, he must balance that with the manager's expectations. It’s clear that Klopp is managing his minutes, which is benefiting the player.

On another note, I believe Curtis Jones had one of his best performances for Liverpool. Like Trent, he seems to be adapting well to the manager's demands, and I hope this marks the beginning of his upward trajectory.

Having followed Curtis since he was 16, I know his capabilities well. His goal against Chelsea showcased an incredible finish.

He has played in various positions under Klopp, but it seems he may have finally found his best role on Sunday.

Looking ahead, Liverpool faces another demanding week with a Champions League match against RB Leipzig on Wednesday, followed by a crucial Premier League clash at Arsenal on Sunday. Manager Arne Slot will need every squad member available.

Injuries and illnesses are becoming a concern, particularly with Diogo Jota forced to leave the field against Chelsea. His rib injury could be serious and may take time to heal properly.

Darwin Núñez made an impact when he replaced Jota and will need to maintain that level of performance to secure his spot in the team for the near future.
