Liverpool's 051 Club reviving iconic nightclub for a one-night-only event

Liverpool's 051 Club is bringing back another iconic Merseyside nightclub for a one-night-only event this weekend. The region has always boasted an array of legendary clubs, and if you were part of the 80s and 90s clubbing scene, you'll likely remember hotspots like The Pleasure Drome, which attracted thousands of partygoers weekly.

Known simply as The Drome, this popular club was located on Henry Street in Birkenhead and became famous for its cutting-edge approach to electronic dance music in the early 90s. Although it's been years since clubbers last danced at the venue, The Drome remains alive in rare photographs and the cherished memories of those who experienced its vibrant atmosphere.

Now, fans of The Drome have the chance to relive those moments as the club is revived for one night at Liverpool's 051 Club. On Saturday, October 12, the event titled "Drome - The Revival @ Club 051" will take place, hosted by The Pleasure Drome's original MC Cyanide. The night will feature performances by DJ Dave Graham, DJ Trix, Westbam, Dream Frequency, Awesome 3, Ultimate Buzz, Rusty, Jay Viper, and Lee Hall.

The 051 Club's website promotes the event, saying: "Merseyside's iconic club 'The Drome' returns! The legendary Birkenhead nightclub, known for pioneering electronic dance music in the early '90s, is making a grand comeback. Join us this October for a special 'Revival' event at Liverpool's renowned Club 051.

"Expect a night filled with iconic beats and unforgettable memories, as we take you on a unique journey through the history of a genre that The Drome helped shape over three decades ago. Prepare for special surprises and enhanced sound, lighting, and production to recreate the incredible atmosphere of The Drome."

Liverpool's 051 Club, which originally closed in 2005 and later housed various businesses, including a cinema and a paintball arena, reopened in September 2023 after nearly 20 years. The reopening marked the start of a new chapter for the legendary club, which had its "final goodbye" event in 2016. The current revival is part of an effort to bring the space back to life, with discussions led by Lee, who began talks with the building's owner earlier this year.

"Drome - The Revival @ Club 051" will run from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. on October 12, and tickets are still available online. For more information, visit the event's official page.
