Littlewoods' journey from success to collapse, with a new future in sight

Liverpool’s iconic Littlewoods building on Edge Lane, abandoned for decades, is set for a major £70m redevelopment after approval from Liverpool Council.

Once the headquarters of the Littlewoods Pools business, the art-deco site has been in disrepair since closing in 1994, with further damage caused by a fire in 2018.

The redevelopment, led by Capital&Centric, aims to restore the building’s historic features, including its clock tower and signage, while transforming it into a media hub.

The project is expected to create 280 temporary construction jobs and 690 permanent roles, with a 2027 completion date. Developers hope it will attract major film productions and establish Liverpool as the “Hollywood of the North.”
